The Young Authors/Young Artist Conference (YAYA) is designed to introduce 3rd-6th grade students to a variety of writing and illustrating activities to enhance and stimulate the love of writing and illustrating. In addition to a fascinating keynote address, students are able to attend 3 different sessions throughout the day. They will be able to hear from professional writers and artists on a variety of topics such as animation, writing for a newspaper, cartooning, creating characters for your story, to name a few. The focus is to promote student enthusiasm and competence in written communication. Students will be encouraged to have fun and be creative with their writing.
During the three days of the Young Authors/Young Artist Conference on the College of Saint Benedict Campus there were over 1,600 students and educators that participated in this annual conference.
